The Assessment Process

When a training provider submits a programme for CPD accreditation, it undergoes a structured, independent assessment designed to evaluate educational quality objectively and consistently. This page explains what happens at each stage.

Stage 1: Submission

The provider submits their programme details through the CPD.me.uk platform, including curriculum documentation, learning outcomes, assessment methods, tutor qualifications, course materials and delivery methodology. The more comprehensive the submission, the smoother the assessment process.

Stage 2: Initial Review

The submission is reviewed for completeness. If any required information is missing, the provider is contacted with specific requests. This is not a quality judgement; it simply ensures the assessment team has everything needed to conduct a thorough evaluation.

Stage 3: Independent Assessment

A trained assessor evaluates the programme against the CPD Scoring System framework. The assessment covers learning outcomes, curriculum design, assessment methods, tutor qualifications, practical application, supporting resources and reflective practice. Each dimension is scored using detailed rubrics that define quality expectations at each level.

Stage 4: Feedback and Recommendations

The provider receives detailed assessment feedback including scores across each quality dimension, identified strengths, specific improvement recommendations and the proposed CPD point allocation. If the programme does not meet minimum standards, the feedback explains exactly what needs to change.

Stage 5: Accreditation Decision

Programmes that meet or exceed the required quality standards receive formal CPD accreditation. The provider receives their accreditation documentation, a unique Activity Reference for the Intelligent Verification System, and their CPD point allocation. The approved activity is added to the Provider Directory.

Stage 6: Ongoing Compliance

Accreditation is not a one-time event. Accredited activities are subject to annual review through the Continuous Improvement Framework to ensure standards are maintained and, where possible, improved. Providers receive advance notice of review requirements and ongoing support throughout the process.

Assessment Independence

Assessment independence is fundamental to the credibility of CPD accreditation. CPD.me.uk assessors evaluate programmes against published standards using standardised criteria. The outcome is based on evidence, not relationships. This independence is what gives CPD.me.uk accreditation its value in the eyes of insurers, employers and professional bodies.
