Two Systems, One Goal

Provider Benchmarking and the Continuous Improvement Framework are complementary systems that work together to ensure accredited training programmes maintain and improve their quality over time.

Where benchmarking provides the initial assessment and scoring, the Continuous Improvement Framework provides the structure for ongoing development and progress.

The Improvement Cycle

Together, these systems create a structured improvement cycle:

1. Initial benchmarking — Provider receives detailed scoring across all quality criteria at the point of accreditation.
2. Gap identification — Specific areas for improvement are highlighted with actionable feedback.
3. Improvement planning — Provider develops a plan to address identified gaps before the next review period.
4. Implementation — Changes are made to course content, assessment methods, materials or delivery.
5. Re-assessment at renewal — Updated programmes are re-benchmarked, with progress tracked against previous scores.

Rewarding Progress

Providers who demonstrate measurable improvement between assessment periods may be eligible for level upgrades. This creates a positive incentive structure where quality improvement is recognised and rewarded, not just expected.

Tracking Your Journey

The CPD.me.uk provider dashboard allows accredited providers to track their benchmarking scores over time, see which criteria have improved and identify remaining opportunities for development.
